Why Edible Gardening?
I’ve been having an experimental affair with edible gardening since I was a child. I’ve had summers of bountiful veggie gardens, and summers when most of my plants succumbed to too much rain and not enough – who knows. And yet I can’t give it up! I love it too much.
These days, as the mother of a child with food intolerance, where my food comes from, how it’s grown, what goes into it, have become critical questions in how I feed my family. It’s a question more of us are asking ourselves every year.
Edible gardening – even on a small scale – allows us to take control of a portion of our food chain. In addition, I’ve seen kids of all ages, even some grown up ones, get totally over-the-top excited about eating something they grew themselves. It was how I got my daughter, then 3, to eat salad leaves (green food!!) for the first time.
In short, it’s one of the most rewarding gardening experiences there is. We delight in being able to help our clients plan, set up, plant, and reap the harvest of their own edible gardens.
